Navajo Sterling Silver and Turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace
Description
This style of necklace is an iconic piece of Native American jewelry, with origins in the cultural heritage of the Southwest. With 15 pieces of unpolished turquoise held together by beautiful sterling silver work, it is distinguished by silver beads and a central crescent-shaped pendant called a Naja. The "blossoms" are flared silver beads that resemble blooming flowers, such as the squash blossom or pomegranate fruit tops. Necklace measures 26" end to end. Pendant measures 2 3/4"x2 3/4". This piece isn't signed, typical of pieces pre 1970.
